Have you heard the news?
There is a new CBN policy that essentially states that individuals can only withdraw N500,000 per week (from Banks, POS agents, and ATMs) while the maximum withdrawal amount for organizations per week is N5,000,000. Anything above the limit will attract extra processing fees of 3% and 5% for individuals and Organizations respectively.
By placing stiffer restrictions on cash withdrawals, it is clear that the CBN is trying to drive a cashless economy.
What are the benefits of this policy?
- It reduces the costs associated with cash handling
- Improves access to digital payment channels
- Enables more transparency in payment systems
- It makes it easier to transfer money
What does this policy have to do with Little?
At Little, we pride ourselves in providing a platform where children can practice money management with their debit cards under the guidance of their parents. This debit card introduces them to the world of money without holding physical cash. Little encourages parents to give their children money through their debit cards thereby promoting a cashless environment
This new CBN policy has made it clear that it will invest in a future where payments are made through channels that do not involve physical cash. What better way for your child to gain the experience necessary to fit into the cashless society than starting early?
Early adoption of using debit cards to receive money, make payments, and learn basic money skills is what Little strives for; by providing two variances of debit cards
- One that can be used in Schools is known as the Little Smart Card
- The other which is known as the Little Verve Card does everything a regular debit card can do and is built for children
The Little cards have added advantages that other debit cards do not have which include;
- Setting spend limits
- Monitoring how children spend their money
- Sending money directly to children
With this new CBN policy, making purchases with cash will become even more difficult for children as vendors will accept online or card modes of payments alone. Therefore having a way for children to access funds that do not involve holding physical cash is what every parent should be concerned about.
Little is here to provide an easy and convenient way for parents to give their children money. The children go cashless by getting a debit card while parents send money to their cards and monitor how it is spent.
