HOW TO MAKE YOUR CHILD A MILLIONAIRE IN 10 YEARS

Here’s what rich men and women won’t tell you; Most of the things they learn in life weren’t gotten from School or by being the best students, but from experiences and situations they picked up along the way.

Robert Kiyosaki, a Money expert, recognized globally, wrote a book called “Why the A Students Work for the C Students and the B Students Work for the Government”, and in that book, Robert carefully explained why the brilliant students with Good Grades end up working for those students scoring a little above average

I didn’t say having our children score 1st in class is wrong, I also am not saying it’s okay for your child to take the last position in class because it means he’ll be a millionaire in 10 years, But what if I told you there's a secret ingredient to success that goes beyond scoring 1st position in School?

 Your child has the opportunity to be The CEO of a million-naira company, that provides jobs to thousands of people or Your Child works every day and collects a salary at the end of the month. Both Choices are good but it's important to provide our children, with the skills and mindset to succeed in whichever path they choose.

So How Do We Make Our Children Millionaires?

When your child returns from School, Employ them to work for you, whether it's at your shop or home. Having them work for money helps them see how important it is to earn money. It also reduces the chance of them wasting time later in life.  

Having a job teaches our children how to manage their time while handling chores, work, and school without falling behind. Putting off tasks delays success. By guiding your kids to overcome this habit, you're teaching them to use their time wisely to advance in life.

Once your child earns money, give them the chance to spend it. They won't learn about money if it's just sitting there.

Teaching children how to spend money might seem simple, but it's not always easy.

It takes practice to learn the millionaire art of spending money.

Sometimes, our children might overspend because they didn't plan properly, or they confuse wants with needs.

The key is learning to plan and budget wisely, ensuring they have enough for what they need. When children learn to save and spend wisely early on, they'll be better off financially as adults. Saving money teaches them to plan and be patient.

Getting into the habit of borrowing money can be hard to break. If your child borrows from friends or family, they might rely on loans more and more in the future, leading to more debt.

Home isn't the best place to learn about borrowing because as Parents, we are usually more forgiving than businesses. We might let them take longer to pay back or not charge interest. But this can make our children think borrowing is safe.

The truth is, borrowing doesn't give you freedom—it traps you. Instead of being strict about payments or charging interest, teach your children to stay away from debts and loans.

Good money management means spending wisely. Don't let your children fall into the trap of wanting things now and paying for them later. Teach them to save for what they really need.

Build your child’s mindset by reading books

Mindset and habits are more important than inheritance when it comes to personal financial success.

And one of the ways to build a healthy mindset for our children is by reading books. They'll learn valuable lessons about life, money, and general success simply by reading.

Books like; Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, Think Big by Ben Carson etc, etc. Start by giving them small opportunities to learn, and once they've mastered those, they'll be prepared to succeed on a bigger task.

How do I stop my child from Overspending?

In our previous blog where we talked about giving our children pocket money in the economy, we had some parents disagree on giving their children pocket money, we received your feedback and we appreciate you expressing yourselves. Please continue to do so in the comment section.

Yes, some of our children may not understand how difficult things are right now, and giving them money seems like you are taking it too far.

Here at Little, we provide a better way to give your child pocket money.


You send money to your child’s account and whenever they withdraw money with the Little Card, you get an alert.

So, How do I stop my children from Overspending?

With us, you can send your child pocket money and monitor how they spend it.

You don’t have to worry too much about your children losing the money. You can simply fix a daily spending limit for your child right on the Little app with these Little Steps;

Then, select your child’s name to set card limit (click on your child’s name)

Select the type of limit you prefer (daily, weekly or monthly)

Click on save(photo of the steps to set daily spending limits.)

This way, you can send any amount of money to your child’s account and set how you want your child to spend in a day and then you get an alert whenever they withdraw with the Little card.

Bullying is a common thing in Nigerian Schools. All the name-calling like “big head”, and abuse of power, where a senior  would send you to run errands like fetching water for them, washing their clothes, etc, back then in school. And when something like this happens and you cry, you are considered weak. They’ll say, “As Nigerians,  you’re supposed to toughen up, so you can be able to face anything”.

I don’t know about you but it happened to me and I wanted to repeat the same thing to my juniors. That was the case, “do me,  I do you”.

It is a very wrong way of thinking but back then, Teachers didn’t care. But a lot has changed since then. Now, Schools care. Teachers care but the bullying has to become something else.

Hmmm, Now, the bullies of nowadays have started something new. They collect money from students. They beat them up and collect money from them.

A parent was complaining about her child always submitting his Little card to another student who would threaten him and use her son’s Little card to buy goodies for himself.

Now, Even though schools don't allow bullying and punish students who do it, many children are afraid to tell their teachers about it.

As parents, it's important to watch for signs and make sure our children feel safe talking to us.

If your child says they don't want to go to school or that their things are always getting stolen or missing, it's a sign. Here's what you can do to stop your child from being bullied;

Talk Openly:  Make sure your child feels comfortable talking to you. Listen without judging, and ask simple questions. Sometimes, just talking can help.

Ask Questions:  When your child mentions problems like not wanting to go to school or things being taken, ask more about what happened. Simple questions like "Can you tell me more?" or "How did that make you feel?" can help.

Make Them Strong:  Teach your child to respect themselves and show them how to stand up for what's right. Practice with them so they know how to respond to a bully and feel more confident

Build Confidence: Bullies often pick on children with lower confidence. Tell your child what they're good at and what they've achieved. Help them feel good about themselves so bullies won't target them.

Connect with School: Stay in touch with your child's school. Go to meetings with teachers and talk to them regularly. If your child is being bullied, a good relationship with the school can help solve the problem faster.

Teach Kindness: Help your child understand how their words and actions affect others. A kind child is less likely to be a bully and more likely to stand up against bullying.

Involve the School:  If you find out your child is being bullied, tell the school. Share your worries and work together to fix the problem. Schools have rules against bullying, and your help can make things safer for all students.

Remember, stopping bullying needs everyone's help – parents, schools, and the community. By talking to your child and supporting them, you're making a big difference in creating a safe and friendly place for them.

The Little Money Fest: The Money Event for Every Child

Hello Parents! Wishing you a splendid New Year from the Little team! We're thrilled to be back and active in 2024, and we've got some exciting updates which we’ll be releasing as we move forward.

Before we went on our Little break, we had our First Money event  - "The Little Money Fest 1.0" – exclusively for schools under the Lagos First Generation Heritage Colleges Association (LAFGHECA). For those who couldn't make it, here's a little recap of the event.

The Little Money Fest event was held in Igbobi College, welcoming students from various schools including Methodist Girls, Ansarudeen Randle, Igbobi College, The Apostolic Church Girls, Baptist Model High School Isolo, and Baptist Model High School, Ijegun, among others.

We had different sessions during this event, We had the;

where the CEO of Little, Mr Henry Nnalue, passionately engaged the students, speaking on the importance of reading and staying focused on their dreams. The General of EduBanc, Mr Damian Umeasala,  also shared insightful experiences on reaching out to students, highlighting the progress achieved. We had a brief empowerment session with TMO(Teens Meet Online).

 The event bubbled with lively activities such as charades, dancing, and an engaging Q&A session on financial topics. These activities not only entertained but also stimulated the young minds of our children.

 The students had the privilege of learning how to make yogurt from scratch, thanks to the special appearance of the CEO of Yeda Hub, a renowned yogurt company. The experience resembled a scientific experiment, and the results were not only educational but delicious, most of our children got to watch the process, and some even volunteered to assist and actively practice what they learned.


To wrap up the event, the students were handed thoughtful gifts, serving as a reminder that financial responsibility can indeed be enjoyable. Many students posed questions and shared tips, fostering a dynamic discussion around effective money management – a core principle that Little aims to instill.

Little's primary goal revolves around teaching children how to manage their pocket money. By doing so, we aim to mold their perspectives on money and its responsible use.

The Little Money Fest: A Money Event for Every Child

How do we encourage our children to achieve Great things? -Lessons we have learned from Hilda’s Cookathon

We all heard about Hilda’s Cookathon. For all those that do not know, there was a cooking marathon held in Amore Gardens, Lagos, by a chef named Hilda Effiong Bassey and she cooked for 100 hours and 40 minutes. Isn’t that amazing?

Hilda was able to gather Nigerians to show support. The last time this happened was during the 2023 elections; all Nigerians supported her vision and cheered her on.

The Governor of Lagos State was also present to support her. The President of NIgeria, Muhammadu Buhari, also sent in congratulatory messages and celebrities were also present.


Hilda broke the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking hour done by an individual. The previous record was done by an Indian woman, Lata Tondon. She cooked for 87 hrs , 45mins and has been the only woman to ever hold this record.

She planned this event for years and had to work hard to achieve this. She did a dry run, cooking for 24 hours non-stop, ran tests and lost weight, all to make sure this cooking marathon a success.

Being able to cook for 100 hours wasn’t an overnight success. She planned for years and months.

Doing all of this wasn’t easy and we know her family, especially her parents, played an important role in supporting her and teaching her core values. It’s the same for you Parents, teaching your child Financial responsibility with Little. From funding their Little wallet to setting daily limits. All of this is to teach them to be responsible in their spending.

Other ways we can encourage our children are;

Always engage your children. Give them money lessons whenever they are around. “But Lois, What money lessons do I teach my children?”  Don’t worry about that. You have our

Give them a chance to handle tasks by themselves; After you teach them, it’s okay to allow them to try out some exercises by themselves. One of the ways children learn is by practicing whatever it is they have been taught. It speeds up the learning process.

Always pray for them; This cannot be stressed enough. Whatever you want your child to learn, you can teach them but also pray for them. Involve God in whatever you do.

And also there have been parents that have reached out to us to ask how they can get their children to save money even in boarding schools. We hear you and we are cooking up something that can help with that.
